Drew Hayes is an American author of superhero fiction, humorous urban fantasy and LitRPG, writing from Texas, with a genial, self-deprecating voice that has won him a large and loyal following.
He published his first novel, Super Powereds: Year 1, in 2013 and soon left office work to write full time. That debut series - set at a university that trains those with superpowers to control and use them - remains among his best-loved, and he has ranged widely ever since.
His range is unusually broad. Villains' Code looks at a world of metahumans from the villains' side; the Spells, Swords, & Stealth books imagine what happens when the non-player characters of a fantasy game wake up to their own lives; and the long-running Fred, the Vampire Accountant blends deadpan comedy with urban fantasy in the misadventures of a mild-mannered undead bookkeeper. More recently, the cosy Roverpowered follows a young alchemist and her hound as they bond into wizard and familiar.
Prolific and quick to laugh at himself, he writes fast, warm, funny adventure that never takes itself too seriously.
