Whiskey Flowers is the pen name of a remarkably prolific American author of 'mage' progression fantasy, whose many short, fast-moving series have found a large audience.
Originally from Oakland, California, and now living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he came to writing from a life outside books entirely: a former active-duty soldier, he serves in the New Mexico National Guard and works as a corrections officer. His author bio is as blunt and funny as his prose, describing his California upbringing and the way the army set him 'on a different path'.
Writing since around 2016, he has published dozens of books built around underdog mages coming into their power. His breakout, The Wizard Assassin, follows Dax Davary, an illegitimate prince mocked for his feeble magic, who turns his talents to picking off his enemies one by one; later series such as The Lightning Mage, The Knight Mage and The Mage Breaker ring endless changes on the theme of the outmatched hero who levels up.
Unpretentious and enormously productive, he writes exactly the kind of quick, propulsive power fantasy his readers come back for.
