A self-described 'professional procrastinator' who traces her affinity for the strange to a childhood spent near the shores of Lake Erie, she has become one of the defining voices of a booming subgenre, writing warm, funny, unabashedly steamy love stories under the banner 'High Heat, Always Sweet'. She has, as she puts it, 'always preferred beasts to boys, the macabre to the milquetoast'.
Nearly all her work unfolds in Cambric Creek, a cosy small town shared peaceably by humans and monsters. It began with her breakout, Morning Glory Milking Farm, in which a debt-burdened young woman takes an unusual job at a dairy that serves the town's minotaurs - and falls for a regular customer; the book went viral and made her name.
