Garry Jenkins is a British journalist and author, best known as the co-writer of the international bestseller A Street Cat Named Bob.
Beginning as a newspaper journalist in the 1980s and writing for a range of British and American titles, he became one of the most versatile popular authors of his generation - a biographer, historian and, above all, a gifted collaborator who helps other people tell their stories. His subjects have ranged remarkably widely: the making of Star Wars in Empire Building, the actor Harrison Ford, the 1970 Brazilian football team in The Beautiful Team, the soprano Kiri Te Kanawa, and the history of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
His greatest success came with A Street Cat Named Bob, written with the street musician James Bowen: the true story of a recovering addict busking on the streets of London and the injured ginger cat who transformed his life. A number-one bestseller translated into more than twenty languages and filmed in 2016, it led to several sequels, and he later co-wrote another feline-and-human bestseller, Nala's World.
