Jonathan Brooks is an American author of 'dungeon core' fiction, a corner of the LitRPG genre in which the reader follows not an adventurer but the dungeon itself - a sentient labyrinth that grows, defends itself and schemes. Writing from Colorado, he is among the most prolific hands in the subgenre, with dozens of books to his name.
A lifelong gamer - he traces it to an Atari 2600 at the age of five - and a fantasy reader since childhood, he spent most of his working life in retail before turning to writing full time and settling into the dungeon-core and GameLitRPG stories he loves.
His range runs from the Glendaria Awakens trilogy that launched him, through long-running series such as Dungeon World, Station Cores, Dungeon Crafting and The Hapless Dungeon Fairy. A warmer, stranger streak shows in his Holiday Dungeon Core novellas: in Christmas Core, the soul of an elderly man named Elmer becomes a dungeon and, drawing on a lifetime of Christmas memories, finds a way back to his late wife, Mary - proof that even a genre about monster-filled mazes can be unexpectedly tender.
He lives with his wife and daughter, and shares his works in progress with readers through Patreon.
