Dennis E. Taylor is a Canadian science-fiction author and former computer programmer, best known for the witty, ideas-packed Bobiverse series.
He self-published his first novel while still working as a programmer, and that engineer's delight in how things actually work runs through his fiction. He lives near Vancouver, British Columbia.
His signature creation is the Bobiverse, beginning with We Are Legion (We Are Bob): a software engineer named Bob dies, has his preserved mind revived a century later, and is uploaded into a self-replicating interstellar probe - only for his many copies, each a little different, to spread across the galaxy exploring, terraforming and quarrelling among themselves. Warm, funny and thick with real science, the series - continuing through For We Are Many, All These Worlds and Heaven's River - has become a modern favourite, and its first volume won Audible's award for the year's best science-fiction audiobook. He has also written standalones including Outland and The Singularity Trap.
