Jason Hill is a self-published author of 'cozy' LitRPG - gentle, low-stakes, game-structured fantasy built around crafting, trading and mending rather than combat.
Publishing since 2021, and serialising his stories on Royal Road before collecting them for Kindle, he has carved out a comfortable niche in the slice-of-life corner of the genre, where the pleasures are those of building a life and a livelihood rather than slaying monsters.
His most popular series is Artisan, which follows Leif Craftsman, born into a family of secret enchanter-crafters, who flees his village after a tragedy and starts over on a mountain frontier, making his way through skill and craft; it continues in Artisan 2: Homestead. Around it sit further gentle tales of makers and merchants - Trader Jim's, a relaxing merchant LitRPG, The Metalsmith, and The Tale of the Traveling Mender - along with a lighter sci-fi strand of space-hauling adventures.
He keeps his life largely to himself, offering only that he loves reading, writing and his dog, Mayu - and writes the kind of warm, unhurried fantasy that asks nothing more of a reader than to relax and enjoy the making.
