Writing from the American South after an earlier career in the corporate world, she built an enormous readership the independent way, book by book, before the internet caught up with her: in 2021 her Ice Planet Barbarians went viral on BookTok and rocketed up the charts, winning a print deal with Berkley and a starred review that praised its blend of sweet romance and high-stakes survival.
