Naomi Lucas is an American author of science-fiction and paranormal romance who has, since 2016, made a niche entirely her own: unabashed 'monster romance'.
Writing independently from near Portland, Oregon, she pairs a painter's eye - she sells her art through her own Etsy shop - with a lifelong love of gaming and speculative fiction, and a cheerful self-description as 'a weirdo through and through'.
Her cornerstone is Cyborg Shifters, a nine-book run of standalone science-fiction romances set in a shared universe of mechanically enhanced shapeshifters, which opened in 2017 with Wild Blood. Around it she has built whole ecosystems of the strange and tender: The Naga Brides, following serpentine suitors; the space-set Stranded in the Stars, which shares the Cyborg Shifters universe; Tropical Dragons; and standalones with titles such as Oops! I Summoned a Demonic Merman. Written frankly for adult readers, her books find the warmth and longing in creatures most stories would make monstrous.
Family sits at the centre of it all - what she calls 'the Lucas pack', her husband, her sons and two dogs named Barracuda and Mahi Mahi.
