Tom Larcombe is an author of LitRPG, GameLit and fantasy, writing game-structured adventure from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
A reader long before he was a writer - hooked on fantasy at around eight by Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant and then The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings - he has been self-publishing since the early 2010s, steadily building a shelf of interlocking series across the genre.
In Light Online, an out-of-work everyman named Eddie Hunter takes what looks like a simple farming job inside an immersive virtual game, and finds himself entangled with dubious employers and a curious artificial intelligence, across Farmer, Keeper and Leader. His most popular series, Natural Laws Apocalypse, imagines a 'System' abruptly rewriting the rules of the world and the survivors banding together to save humanity, while the urban-fantasy Crow Hill and the time-slipped Merlin's Awakening - in which Merlin wakes, centuries late, in the middle of the Second World War - show his taste for a good high-concept.
He lives in the mountains with his wife, two daughters, three cats and, by his own account, 'a variable number of chickens'.
