Cássio Ferreira is a Portuguese author of LitRPG and progression fantasy, known for the deliberately warm, wholesome tone of his Hidden Class books.
Born in Porto and originally trained in robotics, he found that a love of languages drew him instead into teaching and interpreting before he turned to fiction. He writes in the modern web-serial fashion, releasing his stories chapter by chapter on Royal Road - where they have drawn more than two million views - before collecting them for Amazon, with early access and updates shared through a Patreon he runs with his wife, Ariana.
His work centres on the Hidden Class universe, a gentle, cosy spin on the VRMMO progression story told across several parallel series: Card Slinger, a deckbuilding adventure in which a veteran of a shut-down card game discovers its neglected in-world mini-game holds the key to everything; Pacifist, built around a non-combat class; and Handyman, which turns crafting, potting and beekeeping into an unlikely quest. He names Philip K. Dick, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Frank Herbert, Andy Weir and Brandon Sanderson among his influences.
He describes himself as drawn to 'animals, aliens, good-hearted adventures, and worlds that feel warm instead of grim' - and jokes that his real struggle as a writer is not putting his cat, Oli, into every book.
