About This Book

Dovaleh G., a stand-up comedian, takes the stage at a club in the Israeli town of Netanya for what turns into no ordinary show. In the audience is a retired judge who knew him as a boy, there at Dovaleh's own invitation, and as the jokes give way to the story of his childhood the evening becomes a reckoning with his past.

International Booker Prize (Winners)
The International Booker Prize is awarded each year to a single book of fiction translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland, and its prize money is shared equally between the author and the translator. In its current form it dates from 2016, when it replaced a prize given every two years for an author's whole body of work. Its winners run from Han Kang's The Vegetarian and Olga Tokarczuk's Flights to Banu Mushtaq's Heart Lamp, the first book of short stories to win. This list collects the winning books by year.
