• Carnegie Medal for Writing (Winners)

The Carnegie Medal for Writing is the oldest prize for children’s books in Britain, awarded since 1937 by librarians for an outstanding book written for children and young people. Its winners run from Arthur Ransome’s Pigeon Post through The Borrowers, Tom’s Midnight Garden and Watership Down to Philip Pullman’s Northern Lights, Neil Gaiman and Patrick Ness, who won it twice in a row. This list collects the winning books by the year the medal was presented, which until 2006 was the year after the book was published.
