The Hunger Games

Suzanne Collins's novels are set in Panem, where each year the Capitol makes its twelve districts send two young people to fight to the death in a televised arena. Katniss Everdeen volunteers in place of her younger sister, and her survival becomes the spark of a rebellion. The trilogy was published from 2008 to 2010. Two prequels followed: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, about the young Coriolanus Snow, and Sunrise on the Reaping, about Haymitch Abernathy's Games. Most readers start with The Hunger Games and read the prequels afterwards.
