This has been one of the most requested features since launch. You can now import your StoryGraph library into Book Assembly.
The import follows the same step-by-step wizard as the Goodreads import. Upload your CSV, preview your books, map your tags to lists, match authors, fetch covers, and you're done.
If you haven't exported from StoryGraph before: go to Profile, then Manage Account, then Manage Your Data, and click Export StoryGraph Library. The file gets emailed to you (it's not an instant download), so check your inbox and your spam folder. The link expires after 30 days.
Pretty much everything StoryGraph exports:
This is where the recent groundwork pays off. If you've tagged moods, pace, or content warnings on StoryGraph, those come across automatically:
If you haven't tagged your books on StoryGraph (most people haven't, based on the exports we've seen), those fields just stay empty. No harm done.
StoryGraph doesn't include some metadata in their export: page count, publisher, publication year, genres, and series information. After import, Book Assembly will attempt to fill in gaps via Open Library, same as it does for cover images.
If you've already got books in your library (from a Goodreads import or manual entry), the wizard will flag duplicates based on ISBN and title/author matching. You can choose which to skip or overwrite.
StoryGraph supports quarter-star ratings (3.25, 4.75, etc.). Book Assembly supports half-stars. On import, quarter-star values get rounded to the nearest half-star. So 3.25 becomes 3.5, and 4.75 becomes 5.0. It's a small loss of precision, but it keeps things consistent with the rest of the app.
Head to Dashboard, then Data, and you'll see StoryGraph alongside Goodreads in the import section. There's also a help guide with step-by-step instructions if you need it.
