Lists and Organisation
Your book library should work the way you think about your books. Book Assembly gives you lists, genres, series tracking, and filters that let you organise everything exactly how you want it.
Custom lists
Create as many lists as you need. A few ideas to get you started: TBR (to be read), Favourites, Book Club, Lent Out, Holiday Reads, or anything else that makes sense for your collection. Books can belong to multiple lists at once, and you can reorder books within a list by dragging and dropping them into the position you want.
Colour-coded genres
Create your own genres and assign each one a colour. When you browse your library, genres show up as coloured badges so you can spot them at a glance. Each genre displays a count of how many books it contains, which is handy for seeing where your reading habits lean.
Series management
If you read series, you know how important it is to keep track of where you are. Book Assembly lets you group books into a series, set each book's position number, and drag-and-drop to reorder if you need to. You can filter your library by series and sort books in series order, making it easy to pick up where you left off.
Moods, pace, and content warnings
Beyond the basics, you can tag your books with extra detail:
- Moods: How did the book feel? Choose from 14 predefined options like adventurous, dark, funny, or romantic, or create your own custom moods.
- Pace: Was it a slow burn, a medium read, or a fast page-turner? Tag each book so you can find the right speed for your current mood.
- Content warnings: Flag sensitive content with predefined or custom warnings. Helpful for recommending books to others or remembering what to expect on a re-read.
Powerful filters and sorting
Finding the right book gets easier as your library grows. Filter by any combination of:
- Reading status (reading, finished, to be read, paused, DNF)
- Genre, series, or list
- Rating and author
- Pace, moods, and content warnings
Sort your results by date added, title, author, rating, series order, or list order. Switch between grid view and list view depending on what you prefer.
Views that suit you
Toggle between grid view, which shows book covers in a visual layout, and list view, which puts more detail on screen at once. Both views support all the same filters and sorting options, so you can work whichever way feels most natural.
