Ian Fleming's fourteen James Bond books - twelve novels and two collections of short stories - published between 1953 and 1966, introduced the British secret agent 007 to the world. Fleming drew on his own wartime work in naval intelligence, and his Bond is colder and more vulnerable than the screen version: a professional killer who drinks too much, makes mistakes and is badly hurt along the way. The books run from Casino Royale to The Man with the Golden Gun, published the year after Fleming's death in 1964, and the posthumous story collection Octopussy and The Living Daylights. The Bond novels written after Fleming by other authors are not included.
