The Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction is awarded each year at the Borders Book Festival in Melrose, close to Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, often called the father of the historical novel. Founded in 2010, it is open to novels set at least sixty years before their publication. Hilary Mantel won the first prize with Wolf Hall and won again with The Mirror & the Light, and Sebastian Barry has also won twice. This list collects the winning novels by year.
